This Ford Tri-motor arrived at the local airport the other day. I spent some time there taking a few photos of the event. They were taking people for rides in the plane. I wasn't planning on going, a little leery of going up in a plane that is older than I am, but I broke down and took a ride.

On Sunday they brought in several Fords of the same period

Here is a series of photos that I extracted from the video of the ride I was on. I went on the flight on Friday so there weren't many people there.

If you are interested in seeing the 20 minute video of the flight it is here:

There were only four of us on this flight. The co-pilot is one of the paying passengers. He had to pay extra for the privilege. The gentleman on the right said he flew on one of these when he was a kid.

Nice shots! And you got prop blur!! YAY!!!

You needn't worry about the age of a plane. If it is one like this one, it has more checkups than you do ;-)

Thanks for your comments, tsilva.

The plane was supposed to arrive here last Thursday but when I went to the airport they told be it won't be there until the next day. They said they made a lot of flights while in California and they had to perform the 100 hour checkup before it left. I knew it would be well maintained and air worthy. I was just being snarky. Don't mind me.

If it is the lne I flew on in the '60s, I was very noisy. No insulation or anything. Just seemed like a galvanized sheet metal skin and that is all. Loved it. The flight cost $5.

It was fun for a 20 minute flight. Don't think I would want to go for an extended trip.

It's a lot more than $5 now - more like $75. If you view the video I made of my flight you will get an idea of how noisy it was.
