Morning bug hunt 6/16/2015

Tried some slightly different flash settings which seemed to make no difference. It is funny how now I see those little fuzzy tail leafhopper everyday. I guess they are now part of my "macro vision". :)

Don't you love it when you get that translucent glow, like the jumper's leg in the second photo. Overall illumination does seem a tad dark to me but not terribly so or to the point of being distracting.

25% power. I worked on this image on a monitor that is super bright. I forgot to adjust before I posted them.

On my camera LCD, I check exposure immediately after I take a photo. I use an Hoodman HoodLoupe 3x to block ambient light. If LCD image looks okay, I continue. If it looks dark or light, I adjust speedlight output.

A "super bright" monitor will lie to you every time!
Using a Color Munki device will correctly calibrate your monitor to proper color and brightness:
