Has anyone tried Googles, Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 plug-in for conversion to black and white?
I would be grateful for knowledge on what advantages there might be over Photoshops B&W converter, and any other information on this software.
Thank you

Excellent program and easy to learn. Lots of presets to choose from as starting points, including presets that emulate films then you have full control to edit further. It is pretty much the industry standard for conversion.
The suite is now sold as a bundle and it's well worth it. It only costs a fraction of what it did before Google bought it. The other programs are excellent too. I like using it from Photoshop rather than from LR so I can use it with layers and apply edits with photoshop brush tools if I want.
I have had the Nik plugins for many years. I purchased them when they were owned by Nik. They used to have training videos and customer rewards every month. They had great support also. Then Google bought All the Nik software. From that day on NO SUPPORT, NO HOW TO VIDEOS, NO NOTICES OF UPDATES, NO NOTHING. I finally sent an e-mail to google asking if they had any support for their plugins, as I needed to update for my new Mac OS. They finally responded and did send me a link for the updates. I updated and they all worked fine, I thought one that they finally communicated with me and have my address that they would send me notices. Well I was wrong, nothing has every come from them again. I now have OnOne plugins and they are wonderful. Efex did work quite well, had a lot of unique features, but I think that that stuff is quite common now. I use mainly LR6.
Hope this helps you.
Is NIK only for PhotoShop? PSP compatable?
Thanks, I went and looked, after I posted. Guess I'll just wait for the Topaz B&W, to go back on sale.
Thank you, I had no idea of all the support by individuals.
Thanks to all who responded for the help and information. On the strength of that I think I will give it a go.

I have the Topaz suite used with Ps CS6, the Topaz B&W is only so-so. I've watched some people get amazing results with Nik Silver. I'll have to eventually splurge for it too.

I started with silver Efex years ago then purchased the rest because I was so impressed with the silver Efex. I also have the Topax bundle as well but the silver Efex, for me, is my favorite.
Would some one mention the price. Looking it up there seems to be several versions.
