Greetings, all.
My brother and I are doing a 10 day canoe trip in the Quetico / Boundary Waters in August. I'm bringing my regular gear, but he wants to get a decent waterproof point and shoot, a category I know nothing about. He has a little photographic experience, but is hardly an expert. ( He's mainly interested in fishing.) A good display and a reasonable optical zoom range would be the main criteria.
He can afford good quality, so price is not an issue within reason.
Any suggestions? (And many thanks!)
I have heard alot of good talk about the Nikon AW100 and AW120. The GoPro should also be considered.
Amazing camera, but they haven't made those since 2001.
Thanks for all your replies. My brother has informed me that he purchased the Ricoh mentioned in the DPReview article that bspague posted a link to.

I have a Nikon AW100 and it is an amazing point and shoot. On our ski trip to colorado last winter I took pictures with it along side my D7100. With reasonable light, the AW100 took fantastic pictures. It also takes amazing underwater shots down to 30 feet. I assume you are not taking underwater shots in the boundary waters but as far as the AW100 build and waterproofing, it would be a great choice. If I was in a canoe, I would feel much better shooting with the AW100 then my D7100.
I'll be using my D7100 with 18-300 while in the boat. The rest of the time I'll have my D810 and a variety of lenses.
Best accessories? Dry bags and a good insurance policy.
