Does anyone have the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens for Canon? I don't have a wide angle and because I don't think I will use it as much as my other lenses, I don't want to spend the money on the Canon 11-20mm L lens. Any comments on the Sigma lens would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have that lens in Sigma mount for my SD10 & SD14 bodies. I loved it and used it a lot outdoors in daylight. I had very good results with it. I have hardly touched it since getting my 6D in late 2013.

I was in the same situation.
I bought a different name lens (cheaper that Canon).
It has "saved the day" several times!!!!
Just one of the tools.

I wouldn't buy one unless I could see a need for it. Other wise you may not be happy with it just sitting around.

As a matter of fact, I just today purchased on ebay, a Sgma 10-20 mm f/4-5.6 HSM that is supposed to be like new, and after doing research until I was blurry eyed, and blue in the face I settled on this one because of the reviews, and the fact I could use it on my FF 5D MK II and my crop sensor 60D.

Can't wait to get my hands on it and go out and put it through it's paces.

The 10-20 is a DC lens, that is Sigma speak for crop sensor. However, the mount itself is an EF, Sigma doesn't put EF-S mounts on their DC lenses. So it will go on and work, but you might get some serious vignette effects.

I have the 10-20mm f4-5.6 on my t3i and get great results. Sharp images and alot of fun with some close ups. Careful with a polarizer on it, it gets a little weird in the sky color.

I have the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 on my Canon D600 and am very happy with it.

I didn't use it much at first because I didn't know how to get the best out of wide angle. Since I've gone out with it a few times I now enjoy using it very much. It's great in the city with the tall buildings and also by my local river for landscapes.

I have used one (on Nikon) for 7 years, a great travel lens, a grad. nd. is a worthwhile accessory. Great for low angle shots, I thoroughly recommend it. Just get it Laura, you won't be disappointed!

Sorry Laura, my lens is the (cheaper) f 4 version, it accepts screw filters, not certain about the F 3.5.

The f3.5 version has abysmally soft corners wide. You are better off with the f4-5.6 version.

I have the Sigma 3.5 EX 10-20 DC HSM and have been very pleased with the speed of autofocus and composition range it gives me on the cropped 7DMII. However, I have not done a cross comparison with any alternatives so my opinion is merely registering that "it works well on my system".

Caveat: Unfortunately, I am probably not a good enough photographer (yet) to have really been able to judge subtle weaknesses in the lens performance.

It is not a lens you would use on your 5DIII, only your 7DII.

I guess I didn't realize that the f/4-5.6 HSM would work on both FF and crop sensors. This may be the direction I need to go! Thanks!

I knew I would only be able to use it on my 7D Mark II but didn't know until reading all these great responses that the Sigm 10-20 4-5.6 would work on my full frame, too. I did research until I was cross-eyed and got confused and put a post out here. That's why I love UHH.
