I have a squatter who appears to be here to stay. Although he seems to be always underfoot, I am making an effort to be a good neighbor.

Oops! I just realized that I posted this in Close-up. I meant to post in Photo Gallery. Is this close enough? Okay, having written that makes me realize that Legolas probably would have not let me get any closer -- nor did I really want to!

So nice to meet Legolas le Zard, he's a beauty Sherry!!
I wouldn't think he'd make much noise or disturb anything in your garden, so he's probably a very welcoming guest!!
...may I ask what he was eating?? At first I thought it was his tongue!!

Nice shots, I enjoyed them!
:-D

Never you fear, Sherry. These are about as closeup as one can get. Besides that, we're not picky about rules here. Super shots of your squatter, and what was that Legolas was having for lunch? I thought at first an earth worm, but it was leaving quite a large bulge as it went down the hatch.

Thanks for looking and for your kind comment, Earl. It seems that I have acquired a new pet and he seems to be rather accepting of my presence -- not sure that's a good thing.

Thanks for looking, Linda. Legolas is tolerant of me but slithers away if I get too close; I guess he is afraid I will step on him -- or worse.

Thanks , Pat. Glad you enjoyed. I'm trying to make lemonade out of these lemons I've been given.

Thanks , Angela. He does get cuter as I grow more accustomed to him. I have a bird bath sitting at the base of my magnolia one edge of which sits on some bricks to keep it level - Legolas lives in the airspace under that bath. I think that disturbs the birds; I know he disturbs some of the humans living here. Your guess is as good as mine as to his entrée; it all happened very quickly and shots I got were very blurry (this was the best of the lot).

Thank you, Donna, You are always kind. I thought a worm, too. He lunged so quickly and although he dispatched his prey in very short order, there was quite a struggle going on. I wonder if some twigs and debris didn't get swallowed along with the victim. We are hoping he develops at insatiable appetite for mole crickets!

Oh, yes! Snakes love bird and the birds know it! And the raptors love snake. Maybe they do "rock, paper, scissors" to determine the diner and the dinee. :-D
