Just so you won't think me a whiner, I really like this site - I especially like the community of people here, and their willingness to help.
What I don't like very much is the site's search function. Frequently, we scold newcomers for asking questions already answered, but my observation has been that even when they notice the search feature, they may have concluded that it isn't all that helpful - it tends to return way too many hits, many of which are not specific to the visitor's needs.
This seems to be mainly due to the fact that there's no boolean search capability or advanced search feature. There's no way to specify "Lightroom+layout+templates" Searching for Lightroom layout templates is going to return hits on Lightroom, and on layout, and on templates. Many people will give up.
I did a little test using Google's advanced search, and used it to search the UHH site for specific topics. It works, but I found that it returns a lot of hits that way too - maybe because there's a lot of content on this site?
Is anyone else searching UHH this way? Do you find it preferable to the UHH built-in search feature?

What I find more than anything else is that the topic titles are not descriptive enough when people ask their questions in the first place.
I am just waiting for the UHH search engine to come up with porn just like on the advanced Google search. Just yesterday, my wife was looking for a coconut recipe on google and boy did it ever hit! She about wet herself laughing so hard!

You have hit the nail on the head. Garbage in, garbage out. Let us not forget the ever popular, not very helpful topic title "Help". Heaven help me with that one.

She should have gone to the food network site.
I agree that a better search function is probably the biggest improvement they could make here, but then you might not see as much advertising as when you are wallowing your way around. Money makes the world go 'round. I'm guessing there would be no Hog without ad clicks. Sigh...
shhhhh... Never imply that UHH users are using crappy titles for their 'inquiries'.
