Love my new toy

Bought a Canon 85mm F/1.8 ......... good a good deal and heck, it will work on my 70D until I get a FF.

Love it!

Takes nice snaps. That gives me a 50mm F/1.4 (80mm on my camera) and a 85mm F/1.8 (135mm on my camera) for low light situations in churches. That will work just fine until I can get a FF :)

You will really like this lens. I don't have the 50mm 1.4 that or maybe the 35 1.4 will be my next lens. I have a manual focus 85 1.4 but can only get the focus right using live view, so it isn't as practical as the 85 1.8 auto focus.

Do you have a wedding this weekend? Hope to see some of the images from the new toy.

That's one lens (Nikon version) that I've put on and off my gas attack list often.

Either fortunately, or unfortunately, I haven't pulled the trigger yet. The one thing that keeps me personally from doing it is that after so many years of using zooms, I think it would be difficult for me to learn to change my shooting style. (moving my feet) :-)

I will have a walk around zoom someday, especially for the ceremony, but these are great lenses while I wait. For the most part they are similar to the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II in performance/sharpness according to DX0

70-200mm f.2.8L IS II - rated at 24
85mm f/1.8 - 25 (I own) is 135mm on my crop sensor
50mm f/1.4 - 23 (I own) is 80mm on my crop sensor

While I wait for my FF and great zooms these 2 lenses will allow me to deal with low light situations and then have great lenses for the portrait time. My 18-135mm EF-s 3.5/5.6 kit lens is only rated at 11, not a great lens for sharpness or low light ;)

Hope to see some shots soon. This weekend is the shoot with Tim Stapp coming down from Michigan. I only know him through UHH, never met in person, but really anxious to meet him face to face.

I won't have the PP done super quick, because I'm so behind. (my nephew passed away this week, been working on slideshows and printing his senior photos....just recently took them) I will get some posted as quick as I can, though. Really have high hopes for the results. Good looking couple, nice venue, etc.

Looking forward to seeing them ........I've been told that Tim has been working out, getting in shape for your bags ...........

I also heard he went out and bought new elevator shoes so he can see above the crowd in order to snap a few distant shots
