Las Vegas Visit

I know how light polluted Vegas is, but I will be in Las Vegas over the next 5 days and was wondering if there is somewhere outside Vegas like Red Rocks, or anyplace really pointing 180 degrees away that I can shoot some star trails. AS much asa I love Las Vegas, I hate the idea of visiting a city and not shooting the night sky.
I am NOT interested in shooting the strip or any other tourist things like that.

Capture, Depending how long you are willing to drive, Great Basin is considered one of the darkest areas in Nevada. Gary http://www.nps.gov/grba/planyourvisit/great-basin-night-sky.htm

Red Rock is stunning but I do not think it is open for star shooting.

try corn creek off hwy 95 north just past paiute reservation & past mt. charleston turn off. on the right.

Take highway 93 North from I15.
Between mountains in a beautiful valley.
Go a bit early and golf at Coyote Springs then watch the sun set and get some great shots.
