I do like both. But one suggestion for the first shot is to either take two photos with a different exposure and then stitch them together in Photoshop.
Or what I like to do (it's a bit easier) is to get a neutral density filter. Get one that is like a pane of plexi glass; one side is clear and one is a bit darker. Put this in front of your lens and this will really help in getting the sunset.
