If it weren't for all the snakes at my home this year, I wouldn't have anything to shoot.

These two went slithering across in front of me - a little foreplay chase. He finally caught her at the base of the magnolia tree. They were in deep shade with a bit of dappled light. Not ideal lighting conditions, but they really weren't concerned with my desires.

5 pics in this set. Far from the best, but I did the best I could. oh boy. baby snakes.

Very interesting set. I think I would have taken at least two more shots...as soon as I finished with the camera

Thanks for looking and for your nice commenting, Snappy.

Nah. Can only shoot with cameras. Since all the feral cats have disappeared from the woods next to us, we need the snakes to provide the service the cats once did.

I enjoyed your (almost X-rated) pics. We never had a magnolia tree, but when I was young, I once caught one behind the gum tree. By the way, I'm with you--I don't hurt snakes either. :D

Thanks for looking, Earl. Glad you enjoyed. I tried for a XXX rating, but there were just too many large magnolia leaves providing cover for them! I had my son bring my camera while I kept an eye on the lovers. My snake phobic son was not only upset that he had to approach that closely to snakes, but I think he is now psychologically damaged from discovering that his Mom is a voyeuristic perv.

Not hurting snakes is a new thing for me -- it probably won't hold through an encounter with a poisonous one.

I also felt a bit 'funny' when I caught one behind the gum tree, but we were only about 8 at the time, lol.

Good ones STVest I have only ever seen one snake over here in my life and that was when I ran over it, not on purpose, when we went up to Cumbria a couple of years ago.I was gutted that I'd killed it.

Great pictures. I've always welcomed the snakes in my yard as they helped to keep down the mice population in and around the barn.

I wonder how many of us have seen snake pairs. Fine series.

Thanks for looking and your nice comment, Doddy. It must be nice to live in a place where snakes are a rarity! In the circle of life, what provides your vermin control?

Thanks, Jim. I am surprised by your scarcity of snakes. I would be happy to box some up and send them to you. Just PM your address!

Thanks for looking, Ringo, and your kind comment. Do you guys have any NON-poisonous snakes?

Interesting avatar. Do you still have the camera that took that shot -- hmmm -- double meaning here!

Thanks, 2Dragons. They do serve a beneficial function. Still, you'll not catch me setting out a welcome mat for them!
