Not to sidetrack the OP, but that's cool. I did not know that. Thanks for that link!

Just know that inkjet print to metal can give a different look than the kind of aluminum prints being discussed, as they are based on dye-submilation technology.

never thought about the "wow" factor of a bigger print...although bigger prints mean bigger $$$. I think I'll try my local camera store's service in a 14x18 size ($45). Now I need to decide which is the better crop, whether or not to remove the cobwebs and little piece sticking up at the bottom and what finish I want. I'm thinking glossy. Both files are 14x18.

Pretty much all Art Composition Teachers and Gallery Curators feel flowers should be presented in the vertical or portrait format. Your image is plenty sharp! As to the funky bud to the left. I'd crop close to the main flower above the stem split and then -- I hate to say it -- clone out the remaining funky stem and old flower and bud. For a great image this should be re-shot. Unless you just want to crop to a fake "macro" of the flower. Looks better with some stem though. So there are issues here, especially if you plan to have a pricy print made.

Plants tend to be uncooperative that way, old and new growth and flowering right next to one another. I've had the same problem many times. Keep it up! :-)

I guess I'll do the vertical crop (the first, original) pic. Might be kind of silly to do (but I haven't made a commitment yet) however I was looking at some of my other pics that might be neat blown up - some of my airshow pics. I'm NOT going to re-take the shot, It was taken 932 miles from me (according to Google maps) during a family reunion.

I looked at the website...no free samples unless you have a website/business and at $130 for the smallest print they will do (16x20) it's WAAAAY out of my league.

I'm not sure which size to get, but I want to get my first metal print done. I want good quality, but without breaking the bank. The biggest thing I've ever had printed was 12x18 and did it on paper with my Pro-100 printer. I'd go to my local camera store, but they are overpriced on lots of their stuff that aren't cameras or lenses. For a 12x18 wall print for example, (I guess they have blocks of wood on the back) they charge $39.99.

I get all my prints from Adorama. My first metal print was an infrared print. The quality was fantastic.I have never looked back.when I do shows they are my best sellers. I recommend them very highly.

New idea. Adoramapix says in FAQ 300 DPI is optimal, 100 is minimum. I think the best candidate I have found (so far) is a butterfly I took at the St. Louis Zoo's butterfly house. I calculated it at just over 135 DPI for an 11x17 print and with the sale going on, i should supposedly get one for around $40 if it's good on metal prints.

An excellent image for a metal print. Between the colors and the bokah the photo will really pop. You will be very pleased.

I recommend Adorama prints. I have 3 by them and they are well done. One is a black and white that has great contrast the others are color with great color and tonal variations. I did not get the fast service and it only took 1 week to get it.

Absolutely!
