Thanks all of you for your thoughts. A lot of options... including the trip suggestions. Got one on tap in Vermont (from Chapel Hill) in early Sep.

If you have a few minutes... take a look at my new website barrypictures.com I'd welcome comments.

Only you know the answer to this. What shot(s) are you missing that aren't covered by what you currently have?

Bingo! Avoid the G.A.S. temptation. The suggestion of going for the experience will give you real feedback on what you need, not what someone else thinks you should have.

Last Nov. I gave my daughter my Canon G11... and got a Nikon D7100 with 2 lenses. 1) Nikon 35mm (1.8) DX... and... 2) Nikon 55 - 200mm (4.5) DX.

I shoot anything and everything, A to Z.

What lens would you go to, to expand... considering I shoot everything. (Not a pro)

After looking at your photos on your web site, I would ask, why do you think you need anything else?

They are all great photos.

But if you do want a new lens, look at the 24 - 70, 2.8; it is one of my favorite lenses. Or even the 14 - 24, 2.8 lens, I use it a lot too.

Nice website! You say you like to shoot everything. If you're looking for a good walk-around lens, look at the Tamron 16-300mm. I took it to the Dakota Badlands and Yellowstone and it was great!

Don't buy anything until you know exactly what lens is missing to make your photography better.

To me a prime like the 35mm is excellent but limited.

The 55-200 is also limited because of the bottom 55... not wide at all.

My recommendation would be an 18-200. Wide at the bottom but with good reach. I think you'll find that if you do get an 18-200 it will become your go to lens for everything. I shoot a 28-200 and it remains on my camera virtually all the time.

The Tamron or Sigma Sport 150-600mm Lenses are what you'll need for longer reach. You've got the short to medium covered.
I have the Tamron 150-600mm and use it almost exclusively, everything from 10 ft to Infinity.
Here's a Hummingbird shot I took at 10 ft. and a shot of the Moon at Infinity.
