Scissor-tailed flycatcher. Posted one with an obstruction over one eye the other day. Had another, shot with an SX50HD, ISO 100, Aperture priority f/8...I think. Not really a great image, and not really cropped that severe. Just not a great image. Then Question is on my comp and the wire placement in this photo. Thanks ahead for any of your comments.

I think if you captured it with more sky above and less wire that would accentuate your subject more. What are you shooting with? I would love to see this bird sharp. It looks like an amazing creature.

Although some images of birds-on-wires can work, the "wire" in this one I'd one heavyweight cable far to massive to shar an image with the most beautiful of flycatchers!

And having a number birds I've captured with sx40 and sx50, I'd say, from visible noise and the poor feather detail that this was a tighter crop than I'd ever use.

Keep at it; get closer, use a tripod (or at least a monopod).

I mentioned I shot with an SX50, and I'm not too happy with the IQ.

hi, djt,
I'd agree that the image quality of your posted image is ...less than ideal.

But check the link to a very tight crop of a bird image from an old Canon SX40, image quality of the SX50 is better. there is at least one regular poster here in the Critique Section who posts exceptional images from her SX50.

I recommend you get closer( if this possible ) and this will increase image IQ. I have a large drop off in IQ on small birds past 30 feet. The feather detail is finer then the larger birds and gets lost as distance increases.

I'll keep at it, but won't completely miss a shot for lack of trying. Appreciate your comments.
