I look back on 1983 when I walked those same trails and was in awe of the size of the trees. But even more the ambience under them when the sun shone down in a little gap and fell upon the needles and rocks below. It was so quiet except for the occasional woodpecker that it seemed I was in a cathedral. It was an experience I will never forget.
