Here's one of the handiest keyboard aides I have seen in a long time.
I wonder why I cannot make it work on my computer.
Here's a couple more. Alt+171 = ½. Alt+172 = ¼.

Thanks. Used to have something like that but lost it somewhere in a system crash...
Just messing around here, but some of them don't work. I can get the © and ¢, but alt-2 gives me ? as does alt-13 '?'.
That's very strange...
I tried it but can't get it to work.

And Alt+248 is the degree symbol °
Alt-156 = £
There are so many ASCII characters and so many different tables to consult. Just for the fun of it, you can hold down Alt and try different number combinations.
{
╚
§
ô
σ
They are all ASCII characters and there are list available
Used to be in those big very old IBM instruction books.
Do a search and you will probably locate the list.
For Windows (I haven't got the foggiest clue for Mac):
Press Window key -> click All Programs -> click on Accessories folder -> click on System Tools -> click on Character Map.
Now double-click on the character you want, click on Copy, and it's in your clipboard ready to insert in your document.
Almost easy!
