Interesting what some of you have told me about snapping at high ISO's.
I read about "exposing to the right" and some other similar articles. So I tried a few snaps at 1600 & 3200 on my Canon 70D.
Went by the protocol:
1. Shot in RAW
2. Use highlight tone priority to deal with blowouts
3. Used exposure compensation at +1
Surprisingly the exposures were pretty spot on. Used LR to enhance a bit and for the noise reduction. Very useable snaps even the one at 3200. A bit of grain but the detail was there and the facial tones were good with very little grain.

Great news! I know that people get really freaked out when they see noise. My opinion has always been that if you can see the detail, it isn't as big of an issue as one would think. If it were really so evil, why does almost every PP program out there have a feature to actually "add noise?" They do it to make our digital photos look more like film, which is what everyone professes to be trying to emulate......so EMBRACE the NOISE! Whoot whoot!
Sorry, I think I forgot to take my pills this morning.
Anyway, so glad you tried the experiment. Because of actually coming to the digital party a little late, some of my film bias shows through, and things like noise/grain are one of those biases.
Have you heard anything about the lens commutability issue yet? I'd be very interested to know.
