I have tried the free test S.P.E. and it has blown me away with the fun and the final images I've been able to create. Anybody give it a shot? - I'll buy it if the comments are positive. Can't show you my images yet as I cant "save" until it's purchased (19.99) - thanks---tg

I tried it, but didn't do much for me, kinda limited in my estimation. It's cheap at $20.00, so if you like it buy it. I like Topaz much better, but runs 10 times the price on sale.

I have it, along with about 10 other editing programs including Elements. They all do a few different things and I love some of the filters and effects, but I love "playing" with photos. It's an easy one to use and has sooooooo much to play with. I don't regret buying it at all. As for just things like sharpening, color corrections, cropping and all general editing, the free Gimp or several others will do that, but I love all those effects!

I tried it and bought it. I figured for $20, it's hard to go wrong. It has the pre-done effects from other users, and there are other interesting tools to play with. It's not going to force PS out of the market, but it has it's uses.

For $20 it is a lot of fun. I enjoy it and did the Oil Pic downloaded on the Mirrorless camera discussion (after going through HDR with Photomatix and some touchup with element.
Hey I like working with the pics

I like using it to replace the sky in some shots. The select tool works really well. I think it is $30 now though. I did not take this photo but I have done extensive work on it including the sky which is from Smart Photo.

I tried it and bought it. It does what it does very well but it has limitations. It's not a full editor because it can't clone, fix blemishes or dust spots, etc. It also doesn't have any rulers that I can find for purposes of cropping to a specific size or resizing from X pixel content to Y pixel content (which I call reducing 300 dpi to 72 dpi for web use). So I use it in conjunction with PaintShop Pro X4.

That seems like redundant and a waste of time because it could all be done in PaintShop Pro but I like to watch what SPE chooses to do then dramatically reduce what it did because it always exaggerates every action too much for reality.

It seems to be marketed to people who want to do wild artistic things to their photos but it can be tamed with a whip to become more realistic if you choose.

So if it failed in my computer and wouldn't work anymore, I would miss it but I wouldn't be angry that it was gone like I would be if my full editor packages died.

thans for input - as a imagery artist I may use it sparingly but from all the posts it seems to be worth 20.00 for another tool in the photo-tool box.
I also like the possibility of the effects being expanded by a large number of users.
I'll buy it and post images. ---- tg
BTW, what a lovely group in the photo - thanks

As you said, it's a good additional tool in the toolbox but you can't rely on it completely for everything. Well worth $20 in any case.

Thanks for the group compliment. This was at an Asian Festival in Naples FL and the group met there for the afternoon. The one on the far left is my wife holding our son. I find her quite lovely too!

This program is both simple to complex to very complex. It is not intended to replace Photoshop. It is simply another tool. However, we may be seeing the tip of the iceburg here going forward. These are templates, created by a community, that can be modified further depending on the artists desire. Each image seems to take on the quality of a template differently. As a 2D artist working with botanicals that have a short shelf life, Smart photo may provide a platform for expanded expression and creativity. It will be interesting to see where all of this will go.

Fine image - however when reproducing or printing do you lose any pixels? -- thanks, and again- nice work.
I too feel the community input will be what separates from PS. although I will PP with other tools also.
