What were you referring to with the 518,000 dpi number?
Forget now but probably down to brain fart after all the chit chat.

Whatever is said printers do not print pixels, they only deal in dots. The interface between the ppi of an image is the print driver which, in the case of Epson, likes to deal with 360ppi. Anything other than that and it will interpolate up or down to 360ppi which it then converts into dpi which is the only language the printer understands.

All this is leagues away from what started this discussion which was that someone seemed not to believe the fact that photosite size has nothing to do with pixel size.

Congratulations!! You have won the grand prize! (Haven't yet decided what the prize is, though! )

Well, that backfired! I refuse to believe that in 8 pages only one understood the simple answer to the original question! The joke's on me, and I'm laughing along with everyone else.
Apaflo, your prize must go by kayak, so it may take a bit!

My D810 allows you to set the range of ISO to include or omit the extended L or H values.
You can shoot the inbetween values in either of the 'modes'.
So the test can be performed in a sense.

Doesn't the fact the D7200 is cleaner have to do with more megapixels than less megapixels.

No

Sometimes it is an improved Sensor.
Most of the time it is an improved Processor
Sometimes it is an improved Algorism/Algorithm.
