Unconditional love whenever you need it. Not to mention teaching children about life, about love, about responsibility, and even about loss.

Thanks for sharing. I've always believed that God made man in His image and he made dog in His mirror image. That's why dog is God spelled backward.

Thanks for the video, it is a great one which brings a special meaning and warmth to us right now even if it includes a tear or two.

Jackel - nice photos of your friends. I think rescue dogs somehow know it, and give back that much more...

OK - a joke for dog lovers that will certainly offend some:

A wife challenged her husband: "Why do you say that a dog is man's best friend? What about your WIFE"?

His response: "Look at it this way dear - if I locked you and the dog in the trunk of the car for two hours - when I opened it up, which one of you would be happy to see me"?

I like dogs too. But I've stitched up a few kids faces in my time after the dog got jealous. Best never to forget that a dog is a well armed predator, and humans are a thin-skinned potential prey species. Not sure where God fits into those maimed kids' lives...

I've had a lot more stitches from neighbors kids and hooligans on the streets than any persons dogs that I have heard of. Had numerous encounters in the wilds with scared or angry critters and a few while working as an animal handler trainer in a wild animal park. Granted there are pets who have had poor training or are just plain scittso but not to any great length from what I have seen or heard. I agree it is always a good idea to be cautious around unknown animals.
