New 55 film

Has anyone used the New 55 film "one shot". I'm interested in trying it but at the cost I'm learry. I'd also like to know how it's loaded and unloaded then processed;since it's not instant film. Is there a negative and a positive or just a negative. I used their monobath and it seems to work just fine for my tastes.

My understanding is that the film is still in development. Not sure when it will be available. Check the New55 thread over at APUG. The founder has posted on there quite a bit.

Apparently they are producing a simplified version with just a negative that has to be developed,no positive. This is just a fund raiser to help with costs.

What is this new film supposed to do?

It is (or will be) an instant black and white film that will produce a negative and a positive print.

Edit: 1Shot is negative only, user processed.

WOW. I still have my N8008' lenses, data back and speedlight.
Probably shoot a roll every other year. Love that little camera, but now use one of my Nikon DSLRs full time.
Thank you
Duane

I think I'll stick with Ilford for my film supply.

Same here (since Kodak has cut out so much of their product line).

My mom used to work in a Kodak retail sales store. So, I was brought up in a Kodak world. I used Plus-X for 120 and 4x5 for years, Tri-x for 35mm. Occasionally, I'd use Panotomic-X for some special photos, etc.

When they quit making Plus-X in 4x5 format, I started playing the mix and match game. Eventually, it came down to finding a supplier that provided a good quality product in all the formats I used. Ilford came through. I've been using their film exclusively for years now. The only Kodak product I still use is their Fixer. That's it.

Sad, I used to bleed YELLOW. But even 20 years ago I was appreciating the Ilford B&W products, espedcially the papers. I also liked matching the various Portrait films to my subjects' complexions. Fuji for the olive toned, Agfa for the ruddy toned. And, Portra for the perfect toned.

It is amazing that the mighty Eastman Kodaak CO., that produced fantastic films, cameras and pioneered in much technology held patents on the Digital Camera. And for the shortsighted reasons of not cannibalizing their film business surpressed the development of Digital photography.

Bad decisions are made for the best reasons all the time in business. It's those bad decisions made for the wrong reasons that really bite you.
