Pentax K X Dslr

I just picked up a beautiful Pentax KX body. Since I long ago gave up my old Pentax film 35mm lenses, this is my chance to build a handy little system for myself. I have a good bridge camera with plenty of zoom reach, so I now want to get back to fixed lens usage...like a fast 50mm or 35mm. Any suggestions?

Look for a DA 50/1.8 and/or DA 35/2.4. Pretty reasonable...best bang for the buck, also checkout pentaxforums.com. Too bad you don't have your old gear. All of your lens would work on the K-x. I have this camera. For being so inexpensive, it has a lot of features. Welcome to the hog.

Also, if you give up autofocus, there are many good K-mount lenses on eBay and elsewhere at great prices.

I bought and use regularly a 50/1.8 in great condition for $25.

I also shoot primarily with a Kx and occasionally use a Pentax A 50mm 1:2 when I don't need the flexibility of a zoom and wish to shed some weight around my neck. If price is a concern, the 50mm lens is generally much less expensive than a 35mm. The lack of autofocus has never been a concern and these lenses contain quality optics.

The Kx was my first Pentax and I loved it. It came with a 18-55 and I bought a 35mm lens for walk about. I still use it for back up to my K3 and it still performs wonderfully.
Have fun.

I think I want to obtain a lens giving me about the "old normal" focal length. That means a 28mm or at most a 35mm.

The DA35 2.4 is nicely priced and would be a good match for the KX. I have a K-3 and a K-50 and use the 35 regularly. A good value for a "Plastic Lens" its $144.90 on Amazon right now. You'll have to buy a lens hood that screws into the filter mount threads on the lens since there is no bayonet mount on this lens here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CHUPNNU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I leave mine permanently mounted. Also a bargain at $1.99

People sell a lot of stuff on pentaxforums.com. Check out lens reviews...there are lens clubs...there are many to keep you busy for a month on Sundays. Check Ebay too. I've done well there. Not sure about something, ask the seller. Stick with sellers with 100% ratings or close to that.
