I have a lot of photos, slides, and negatives that I would like to scan and save as digital pictures. I am attempting to spend less than $200. Is anyone familiar with Silicon Valley Peripherals 9700, 3 in one scanner?

Thank You MT - this scanner looks ideal for my application.
You're welcome. I use it heavily, never fails to produce a wonderful image.

If you use any attachments for this scanner, how do they work? Is there something special for negatives?
I second "MT's" suggestion. I have an Epson v600 (essentially the same as the v500). Film scanning is done using "film holders" -- see below. Quick and very easy to use.

I assume it will scan old photos but I can't find where it says how large the bed is...can you tell me?

GC-Fineart has shown the only "attachments", that being the holders used to keep the media in line with the backlight while scanning, nothing else needed.

The flatbed is 9x12 for scanning photos and documents.

Thank you, MT Shooter! I think I'm sold! :)
Hey MT, Epson has the 350 version for $59. It's a very capable scanner.

I have an Epson photo scanner and it has done a magnificant job of scanning slides, phots and negatives. It's very simple to use. I have done hundreds of slides for friends and family and they have been extremely pleased with the outcome.
