Will be visiting 5 National Parks in Utah in about 10 days. Have Nikon D800 & all 3 trinity lenses (14-24, 24-70, 70-200.) For those who have been there, which lens would you have on your camera most of the time? My wife & I are both late 60's age. Will be doing some hiking but not too strenuous.
I'm going also to southern Utah, will be there June 3rd and travelling around AS of now taking my 24-105. haven't decided if i'll take anything bigger. like to travel light

You can put all three to good use. I ended up using the 24-105 most though.
We'll be in northern Utah about the same time.
Saw bumper sticker in Nevaday Eat, Drink, and be Merry for tomorrow you will be in Utah. - Dave
Thanks, Dave. Leaving from San Diego so Vegas is on the way.

You will be best prepared with the 24-70mm lens attached in most situations. If you are not hiking, but trying to get a distant isolated feature like Delicate Arch, you might have use for the 200mm reach. Or, if you venture into the Subway at Zion you would need the 14-24mm. Most of the viewpoints are best served at wide angle.
Will you be going through the Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks, or up Moki Dugway to get to the Natural Bridges? House on Fire? Mesa Arch, Dead Horse Point? 24mm will work on any of those.
You have such an awesome experience in store for you.

I think the 24-70 will be on the camera most of the time.
The 24-70 will be ideal ( although I use the 24-120 myself). Having literally spent over 1000 days backpacking in Utah I would suggest going to less Parks and spending more time in each one. Capitol Reef is my favorite Park- not just of the Utah parks but of any park in America ( and I've hiked in nearly all of them). Have enclosed some Capitol Reef photos

I dare say that they all will get used, but I would wager MY use would go I this order: 24-70, 14-24, 70-200. Have fun. Much beautiful scenery to be had in Utah, and not only in the national parks.
Going through Utah on the California Zephyr in July.
You may want to skip Zion. Great park, but crowds make it a real problem. Early.early morning might help. Bryce not so bad. Think about renting a Jeep in Moab to do White Rim Trail in Canyon Lands. It can be done in one day with am early start. Take water. 100 miles, bad roads.
Just be forewarned about the heat in southern Utah in June. We were also quite surprised about the beauty of that part of the country. Enjoy and be safe.
