This has probably been discussed in the past but I'm new to UglyHedgehog....sorry. Looking for a viewfinder point & shoot for under $250 Thanks in advance for your help.

I have had excellent results from the Nikon S-9700. About 169.00 on line and through Adarama and Cameta Camera stores. These are factory refurbished models which normally means they are new stock, sent in generic packaging as they have been held for replacement for warranty requests. I suspect when they have close-outs a newer model must be coming soon or repairs were not in the number estimated by Nikon.
I find many user configurable settings are equivalent to other more expensive cameras, but what I really enjoy is it's 30x/750 mm optical equivalent lens. Electronic telephoto takes it to 60x but I have never used this feature to test it. Does not shoot RAW but the jpeg quality is excellent.
OOps, sorry just noticed the viewfinder requirement. This does not have that feature. it has 3" 1 mil pixel screen
I'm sure other Hoggers will have many other ideas and they will all be good also. We have our personal bias'
Thank you so much for your response, will take it under consideration. Thanks again.

I highly concur with the suggestion of the refurbished Canon SX50. But at $179.00, you better act quickly because these will sell FAST at that price!
I also bought a refurbished SX50 for $200 and the case they recommend. The case was to small and when I called to return it, they gave me an RMA and a credit as the price on the camera had dropped. Great Canon service. I like that it has both a viewfinder and articulating view screen. Great for all kinds of situations.

Thank you but I don't believe it has a viewfinder :?:
Recommend you look at the P600 refurbished from Cameta in the neighborhood of $250. I had a super wild-country trip all planned out and realized I would be packing the big equipment up and down the tough landscape so ordered one... outstanding little camera. No raw... so you cannot do some of the recovery work that you might wish, but for memories and show-and-tell... I'm impressed.
