A recent thread posed - I think in jest - a picture of an old Chevy Truck with what appeared to be a sheepherders trailer on the back that with a bit of fixing could make an ideal camper for photographic exploring - "The search may be over... May hit the road w/camera's"

I have been looking for something that is smaller that would tow behind a mid size SUV but have not found anything that appears to be durable.

Anyone have any suggestions??

I use an Aliner A frame popup for my astronomy outings. They go up in about 10 seconds (literally!) and have many different configurations/ models to choose from. They are lightweight, you can see over the top of them and the new ones offer lots of options! http://www.aliner.com They are not the cheapest in the world, but they are very well built.

The concept you're looking for has been around since the 30s, so it's nothing new. It's called a teardrop trailer.
A teardrop trailer, also known as a teardrop camper trailer, is a streamlined,compact, lightweight travel trailer, which gets its name from its teardrop profile. They usually only have sleeping space for two adults and often have a basic kitchen in the rear.

Teardrop trailers first became popular in the 1930s, when magazines such as Mechanix Illustrated published plans. The first teardrops were designed around the idea of using standard 4 by 8-foot sheets of plywood with hardwood spars. Teardrop trailers remained popular until the mid-1960s, after which they disappeared from mainstream camping. However, in the late 1990s, plans became available on the Internet, and in recent years teardrop trailers have made a resurgence and are again growing in popularity.

T@G or T@B trailers by Little Guy Worldwide seem sturdy. They have a few models/options. I have just begun researching these myself and have found several options. If you have the desire to build your own, you could start with a basic plan and end up with a trailer that exactly suits you. Many plans are available for sale and I suspect the library has books with plans. Try a search on Pinterest. I have seen many ideas I'd like to add to my own dream trailer.
