I have a Sony A7R that I use with Sony lenses. However, I also have a Lensbaby and a Rokinon and Samyang lens.
When I shoot with the Sony lenses, the EXIF data always tells me the type of lens I have on the body, the 24-70, 70-200 etc.
However, when any off the 'off brand' lenses are installed all I get is 'Sony 0 mm F 0.
Is this what I should expect, the off brand is not recognized or am I missing something?
Thanks
Ron
I shoot an A-77 w/ three Sigma and one Tokina and focal distance and aperture are always displayed.
Edit: I should add this is shown on replay.
Do those 3rd party lenses have Sony mounts, or are you using an adaptor to mount them to your camera? If the latter, my guess is the adaptor isn't passing that info to the camera.

I can't speak to Sony, but with Canon the lens and the camera need to communicate to provide suitable EXIF information. Some off brand lenses come with chips that enable the communication, but they don't always provide the same information that a Canon lens will, and sometimes do not identify correctly.
I also have some modified Canon FD lenses with chips, and they identify the focal length and max aperture, but not any data about aperture used since their is no way to tell electronically.
I have a Samyang 8mm fisheye without a chip, and that gives similar results of 0mm / f0.
If you want you modify the EXIF data in an individual picture with EXIF tool pretty easily.
That may help you a little....

The only lens that needs an adapter is the Samyang Tilt/Shift as it is an A mount and my A7R is E.
Even chipped lenses will at most say 50mm Minolta f1.7 when using an adapter.

It is normal to see 0 as EXIF
The lenses are non electronic and as such no data is transmitted.
I have the A7s and use Voigtlander and samyang lenses with same result.
I shoot with the NEX6 and 7. Unless a manual lens is also electronic and chipped it will not report EXIF data regardless of the adapter in use.
