I have viewed some marketing materials and videos plus a few YouTube videos on Peak Design: Slide and Leash.

http://peakdesign.com/straps/?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=category-straps&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-OCqBRDXmIWvveLE3_cBEiQAZWfImafkunvpx_Lh2rIGMth4Z5UNahS5AnMPguXhyExqpTUaAs498P8HAQ#prettyPhoto

Am I a sucker for "Something New" or is this the strap I have been waiting for?

Does anyone here at UHH have hands-on experience and opinion of the product line?

I have the Peak Design Slide...I love it. The main reason I bought it is that the strap attaches to the strap hooks on the camera and NOT to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera like many brands do. I had an OpTech strap for a few months because it also used the strap hooks on the side of the camera. I wasn't happy with ithat strap because it seemed as though the strap was always ending up across my LCD screen (I've never heard anyone else complain about this so I could have put it on the camera wrong?). Anyway, the Slide works perfectly for me and is very comfortable. I like how one side of the strap has a coating that keeps it from sliding around. It almost feels like a really soft seatbelt type material. Very sturdy. I like the idea of replaceable anchor hooks also. I cannot speak about the Leash...I have not tried that model.

Suggest you use UHH's great search function to review recent mentions of Peak Design. Not being mysterious, here; I do happen to like this company's products. Just pointing out there is a faster route to the answer.

I use the Peak Design slide on my D800E. I have another set of connectors on my 300mm f2.8 lens. When I and using the 300mm I attach the strap to the lens instead of the camera. Works like a charm.

Don, you have created and shared some exceptional images on your Flickr site. One of my several favorites was the two chubby quail...reminds me of my years in Tucson. In any case, well done, sir! /Ralph

I have both the slide and clutch versions of their straps and think they are the best I've ever used. Excellent design and quality and both are extremely easy to adjust. Also, should you want to, because of the way they're designed, very easy to change from one style of strap to the other depending on your needs.

Thank you very much for not 'searching' first. Yes you may have got your question answered quicker, but I for one, would not have ever heard of Peak Design Products. Thanks for posting.

Actually, I'm glad to see this post. I had not heard of the Peak Design before seeing it here, and I frequent UHH over the last several months and a few other photo forums as well. I don't disagree with you, just saying I would have missed the discussion without knowing about the product.

Both TexasDon and Marionsho could have learned about Peak Design.by doing a UHH search for "camera strap" and reading the many previous posts. They are both unique individuals, but there is no need to open a new thread for questions that have already been covered in depth.

Laura72568 states: "The main reason I bought it is that the strap attaches to the strap hooks on the camera and NOT to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera like many brands do."

I would tend to agree for those that eliminate the functionality of the tripod mount. However, in my experience, and I saw it in the Peak Design video on YouTube as well, those that mount to the camera strap mounts tend to not lay flat and push the lens slightly forward, increases the chances of banging them on something.

I do not currently own any after market camera strap, but wanted to share the following for those still researching this product like me. It connects to the tripod mount but does not lose the functionality to connect to an arca swiss style connector.

Also search for "cams camera strap" on YouTube.

Using that line of thinking, I will forgo, asking which is best:
1--Canon
2--Nikon
