Anyone come up with a good idea on how to carry your tripod while walking around rather than carrying in in your hand.

A old camera strap and some zip ties, carry over your shoulder like a rifle.

Use the case that came with it.

Use a piece of cord or webbing tied to the tripod as a shoulder strap.

Tie a D-Ring to some part of it with a short cord and clip it to your belt or a belt loop on your pants.

My Manfrotto 190Pro comes with a shoulder strap, the other end attaches to one of the lower legs and then there is another strap attached to that those holds all the legs together

My camera bag is a sling (tamrac velocity 6) and so I just slide one leg through bag and it holds nicely under my arm.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess there is no other way to tote it but carrying the camera over the shoulder as well as the tripod might be a little cumbersome. Going to Sedona in June and also to Grand Canyon. I have been there many times but never bring my tripod. I was thinking of bringing it this time. But as the years go by and we get a little older it becomes more difficult just walking around without camera gear. Need a little wagon :)

Hire a Sherpa!! Seriously, have you considered one of the many backpacks engineered for photography equipment? Most have a tripod attachment strap or other gadget to hold it.

Yes, an extra strap can be somewhat of a pain but beats carrying the tripod. Best solution I have found is an Optech sling strap for the camera over my left shoulder so the camera is on the right side of my body and their tripod strap strap also slung over my left shoulder. I rarely carry a backpack. Works well for me. ;)

Old pair of panty hose fella Just tie the legs and the double gusset makes a nice soft shoulder pad and away you go. Costs zilch and you can join the eco warriors group as of course it will be considered as recycling.
They come in different colours to match your eyes or ya tripod as well.

An assistant? :D

I have a couple in nylon bags with straps, and my larger ones came with detachable straps. I've never used them, though.

There don't seem to be an elegant solutions.

So if you don't have someone in the house who wears them would you recommend going door-to-door asking the ladies for their old pantyhose?
