Pearly wood nymph.
It looked like bird droppings to me. I even touched it to see if it was a bug. It flew to another spot, so I captured it.

I like these, Tom. And I agree with you - the common name should be 'the bird poop' moth.

I just took a few pics of a caterpillar just like that one, but I had no idea that it was going to turn into a pile of crap. (I was referring to the caterpillar, though I could make the occasional case that some of my photos end up the same way as well. :)

Dang, I got beat to the common name... Bird Poop Moth it is... I've got images of one I caught years ago & I got a chuckle too out of the common name.... I like these better as it is on a leaf. The background on mine was a place mat...
