I am going to Hawaii in June and I am looking for a good quality bridge camera to take with me along with my dslr. Would like a nice zoom range and a quality lens, if there is any. Have been looking at a LUMIX FZ1000K anybody have any experience with this camera or make any recommendations for one. Thanks

If zooming is high on your list, I would get the Nikon P900. Several people here have them and like them.

The Lumix FZ1000 is an excellent choice. It doesn't have the focal range of the SX50 or the P900, but it does have a one inch sensor as opposed to the tiny 1/2.3 inch sensor of the SX50 and P900. Focal range is 25-400 mm. With a Leica lens IQ is excellent. Another camera with similar features is the Sony RX10.
This camera has a Carl Zeiss lens. I have a Canon SX50HS and while others love this camera I find it disappointing.

I have this camera and like it very much. It is very easy to learn and use. You won't be disappointed. Just get a good Circular Polarizer filter (CPL) if you're going to Hawaii

I just bought the SX50 in the Canon program. (They are 169.00) and it feels like quality for such an inexpensive camera. I also purchased the hood and filter kit for it on amazon for 26.00. I was always a Nikon or Pentax guy but I'm impressed with this camera at those prices. Thanks all for your patience.

I have had the fZ1000k for several months. I was looking for a starter 4K camera and I am pleased with the result. I carried it on a trip to France and on a ship up the Rhine. The 400 zoom is more than enough and the 4K is super sharp and the colors are vivid. I am happy. Shop around. I got a good price.

i own the Nikon P900, and I can tell you this, it makes for a wonderful vacation camera, as well as a daily type of camera as well, you have 16 megs and a 2.8 nikon lens that zooms out to 2000 MM.......I hav a upcoming cruise vacation coming up, and I"m really looking forward to taking mine along, the only downside to this camera, is that its difficult to get, as Amazon, and a few other web sites, sell out of them ,as quickly as they get them.....

If you are into watersports You might consider on of the inexpensive tough cameras also. I bought a Lumix TS-20 when I went and used it quite a bit. Being able to use it in the pool, ocean, or snorkeling was great. And I can safely give to my 5 year old grandson to use.

Recommend the Nikon P900 - massive zoom and quite decent image quality for a bridge camera and handy to carry around for all shooting situations.
