Can you blame them! There is probably too much smoke in the area.
I have not seeing any in my area either (Virginia)
rumor is, they've left the baltimore area, as they are in fear, they will be called racists

I've had several males and females hanging around here in central VA until week before last. Now they're gone except for one male that only shows up occasionally.
Wondered if mine were just passing through or maybe mamas were sitting on eggs. Still gonna keep the feeders out.

Put some food in the feeder. :D
Once the birds find it, word will spread. I know how frustrating it is to have the feeders sitting there, full of food, and no one shows up. Be patient.

Rhode Island here...have my first two this past week. Used the sugar and water mixture recommended here on this forum. Yesterday morning went out to water the rose garden and one of them came to bathe in the water stream...he stayed for a full five minutes darting in and out of the mist..magical.

I live a bit north of Baltimore and have yet to see any H-Birds...as well...I think as weather continues to warm and flowers bloom....they will appear...
Be patient they showed late this year in NH. do not use the red dye it is not necessary as they will cone to a red feeder with clear fluid. 1/4 cup sugar to 1 cup of water..

Have you been keeping all the Baltimore Oriales to yourselves? They used to be common here in central Maine but I've not seen more than a couple in the last four years.
Humming bids we have though. I recall when I was first putting up a feeder (just checking with it empty to make sure it would fit where I wanted it) a hummer came down and sat on it while I walked across my deck.
However, let me add just one tip. They don't seem to like the commercial humming bird juice at all. They like the home-cooked variety: 1c sugar to 3c water. Bring to a boil and then cool.
Sometimes when they are nesting they don't come to the feeders. Guess we need to be patient. I have a couple, but infrequent feeding
Males will usually show up first but I have not seen a female as yet so yes either late arrivals or sitting on a nest. Time will tell!

Do you make your own sugar solution(1 part sugar to 4 parts water) or do you buy the already made red solution? Making your own is much better for them also buy some plants That will attract them to your yard.Good luck!
