My kid actually mowed the yard. This was the first time as far as I can remember. By the looks of things, he can stand to mow a few yards.
I can relate to that Tom couldnt get my son to do it either now he's moved out and his room is cleaned and picked up theres no dishes in his sink and it goes on and on

Right after I shot this, I threw him out of the house forever. Erv can tell you.

Times sure have changed. I can remember having to reach up to the wooden handles on our push mower to mow the lawn, and that was my job until I graduated from high school and went to work. I think I was about 7 years old, and in the winter I had to shovel the 25' driveway, back & front walk ways and the sidewalk in front of the house. And it best be done by the time Daddy got home from work! But, I wasn't alone as every other kid in the neighborhood had the same chores, and we did it all for 25 cents a week allowance. Just enough to get us to the movies on Saturday.

And I'll bet you walked to and from school barefoot in the winter--uphill both ways. :-D :-D

No, we had shoes, but we DID walk 1.5 miles to school, no matter the weather. Kids today have it too easy. When things get tough when they have to deal with the real world, they either end up on drugs, booze or on a psychiatrist's couch. Many of them think that all they have to do is show up at work to collect a paycheck because they never really learned what work actually entailed. I might have resented having to wash storm windows in the fall, taking the trash barrel out on Fridays, mowing the lawn or shoveling the snow, but it made the transition into the adult world a lot easier.
