Here is a little short video that 'captured' the moment. The photographer came up to me and asked if I had gotten it as he had missed the exact right moment. Video has a place in telling the wedding day story ;)

Actually, back in the late 70's, shooting a wedding on sub-contract with a RB67, the groom told me he was going to cut the cake and flip a small piece into the air and catch it in his mouth. Said he had practiced for six months and bride did not know about it. Just as he flip it in the air his bride pushed him aside and caught it herself. Seems she knew all along of his plan. I got the shot just as it touched her lips with the groom's face just behind and to one side. His expression was priceless. They had thank you cards printed up with that shot. The negative stayed with the studio, long time out of business, but I had a print that I lost. I would give anything to have that print.

The still photographer couldn't have ever gotten a shot at the right time that would have accurately portrait what happened. Awesome catch, I bet that is the centerpiece of their wedding memories.

Gotta love those events where EVERYTHING falls into perfect place, and you catch every moment.
I usually end up with AT LEAST one thing that really ticks me off that I was at the wrong end of the room, or someone stepped in front of me.
