You might be confusing digital vs film. Digital photo's are not photo's, but a computer file filled with data. The file data, besides just photo information, also contains time and date information, lots of it. Time and date created, modified, date file saved and so on. So yes, the time and date is embedded in the digital data, not in the actual photo, unless you want it to put it on the photo.

I'm not familiar with that particular DMC camera model, but this is something you should be able to turn on/off in the settings menu. Just download the camera's pdf manual and do a term search.

I want it included visibly on the digital photos and video for court documentation purpose. A must have in the camera or it will not be accepted in my line of work. The digital camera must be able to do this function.
Thank you very much

I don't know about the court but to me such a time stamp is no proof of when the image was taken. It could simply be that the clock in the camera was wrong at the time.

You are correct.. However, if your employer requires it as well as clients you must comply. It also seems to be a standard in the field of private investigations.

What if you just put the text there yourself using the time information in the exif data?

Try ringing Panasonic direct, here in the UK they are always full of information and most helpful.

Sorry to digress, however, this inquiry raises a question I have never been able to answer: when a digital image is created with the date and time stamp showing, is there a way to REMOVE the stamp from a print of the image, WITHOUT PhotoShopping; that is, to print it without the date stamp? I have a Lumix DMC LF-1.

You can use the [TextStamp] feature on the GH3 to add time/date stamp or other info to a JPG only image. Won't work with RAW or RAW+JPG. It makes a copy of the image when you stamp it. I have tried it, it works.

But, I always shoot RAW + JPG so it won't work for me, even if I wanted to. I'd rather do this in post, anyway.

Page 198 of my GH3 manual (PDF) says you can time and date stamp still images, but itĀ appears ONLY JPEGs saved from the camera. I don't have a GH3 to test.
