faster recycle

Would like something with a faster recycle time than my Canon G15. Grandkids don't stay put long but Nikon D610 is usually out of reach when they are close by. Did the dpreview search on Sony RX 100 III and Canon G7X. The later not sited as very fast and Sony wasn't mentioned that way I could find. In any case would appreciate your suggestions. This will likely become the usually around the neck for most casual opportunity shots. Thanks.

One of the things you give up with the reduced size of smaller cameras is buffer size, another is shutter lag. On the other hand you can create higher quality images if you use props, candy or other "tricks' to hold their attention when you have the D610 at hand. Sometimes the "you can't have your cake and eat it too" saying is true.

Corsica, A DSLR solved all or most of my problems with getting the shots I wanted of our grandchildren. What you see is what you get, at least most of the time. :) :)

Thanks. I've got the D610 but having it at hand all the time is a hassle for the spur of the moment shot.

I have an Olympus Tough - great for underwater photos, but to catch moving grandkids it's a disaster. Kids can move faster than the shutter.
Now my always-in-my-pocket-or-handbag-camera is a Panasonic DMC-SZ1 - it has no shutter lag.

I still prefer my E-M1 though, for all situations.

If you have one....
I still use a flip-phone, $10/month, and if I spend 5 minutes per month on that phone, I've had a very busy month so I do not need (or want) an expensive iPhone.

I have come to the conclusion that one does not get a smartphone just for talking & listening. One use is if you have a 'find phone' app on your smart-tablet you can make it ring from afar. Then there are smartphone apps for maps to see where you are and the tweeting.

My wife's Nikon A-120 is typically slow but I just discovered a neat feature in the menu that sets up a burst mode. You can hold the shutter release down and fire off several shots at a time. Have to wait a bit for it to write the data when you're done but it works OK. It must use the video capability in that mode. Check out the features of similar cameras, they might offer the same feature. Hers cost about $270.
