Does Not Look Like a Hover Fly

But antenna doesn't look right for a bee.
Not sure what it is but it was annoyed at me for bringing it into the house.

Ripiphorus Rex, According to Bug Guide its a beetle.

I wonder if the stinger is a fake?
According to bug guide they are calling it Ripiphorus Rex a beetle. Interesting adaptation.

Nature does provide a means for fake protection sometimes. I know I'd stay clear of it.... fake or not. :lol:

Thank you very much. I don't know how rare it is but I was fooled. Darn thing wouldn't let go of the flower and even after blinding it, I had to just set it in with other weeds of its choice.
