I currently shoot with a Canon 60d I have been saving a few extra bucks here and there...........with that said I went to a Hunt's camera store today thinking YUP gonna get me a 70d. I like the wifi and touch screen. Seems that it is a step up feature wise versus the 60d.

The salesperson discouraged me from moving to the 70d and suggested better glass, in the glass department I have the kit 18-135, Canon 70-200 f/4, Canon 10-22, Sigma 17-70 f/2.8 and Canon 50mm f/1.8.

After a bit of discussion based on my shooting primarily landscape, no video or action shots it was suggestedd I may want to upgrade to the 6d full frame. Hmmm, been watching some you tube videos, not sure the 6d really interests me, not to mention most of my glass will be useless with a 6d, plus the 6d was above what I budgeted.

Open for comments and suggestions.

I use both 6D and the 7D. For landscapes you will be amazed what the 6D and FF will do. I mean it, it is that good. Same sensor as the 5D MkIII just fewer focus points. It is a dream to use.

Also if you need to watch pennies get a refurb through Canon or B-H.

There are some good sale prices on Canon on B&H website right now. You might want to take a look.

I might add that the 7D is no slouch either. Will use all the EF-s lens and ALL EF, and has a high frame rate for action. Not as sensitive quite as the 6D, and its a crop frame...but it is good. And since the 7D II is now out the 7D is on sale for some really good prices.

The 70D is better than the 60D by pretty much. The 6D is better than the 70D for what you shoot, and it's awesome if you don't shoot sports/ action. You'll need glass too, but you have some lenses that'll tie you over until you can buy more, but the 6D is what I would recommend you spring for. You won't be sorry.

Were the lenses suggested or you already own? If you own all these, I would say you do not need any upgrades in glass either. You'll be saddened in the resale value of non L lenses if they were purchased new, but anything that won't work with a new camera can be used to offset the cost of a new body. The 6D has been out for a while so many used and as good as new bodies are available at KEH and elsewhere.

The lenses I mentioned are what I already own. The only non L lens purchased new was Sigma 17-70. Thanks for the tip on a used 6d.

I use the 6D, it is great for landscapes, portraits and non/slowly moving objects. The FF sensor allows a lot of blowing up on print or cropping. It is outstanding in dim light. On fast moving subjects it will take great shots, but you do it the old fashioned way. Pre focus, depth of field and timing to get the shot as the subject is at the right distance. Look at some of the stuff Regis has posted with his 6D before he went to the 7DII.
Three of your five lenses are for crop sensors and will not/should not be even attempted on a FF Canon body. The Canon EF-S lenses will not even mount. I don't know about the Sigma, but if it will, don't.

70D would be the logical update from a 60D. If you want to up the MP count a lot you might consider the T6s at 24mp.

That's why I like shopping online. Hunt's has never given me an argument online. Stick to your budget and get what you want.

One way to get the best of both (budget and upgrade) is to check the refurbished units. Canon refurbs (like most companies that refurbish their products) are brought up to new specs and carry a very nice warranty, giving the buyer the chance to get a better model for a very reasonable price. ;-)

What I thought i.e. the 70D was the logical upgrade

My pluses:
low light
great for landscapes

Negative:
Most of my lenses won't work with the FF and I love the Canon 10-22.

Jerry you said a mouthful! Three years ago I went there shopping for a 7d but walked out with a 60d!

Yes that's what I'm doing now looking a refurbs

One thing for sure:
No matter what you have there is always going to be "Something Better"
So even if you jump to Full Frame there will be someone telling you of a better sensor Higher megapixels or medium format.
But that said, read the comments from the members with the actual bodies in-hand and be at peace with your decision.
