It took me a while to realize these were azaleas. I kept getting bewitched by the color.

Thanks Geezer. Yep, it just sort of jumps out and hits you in the eye.

Thanks Michael. Even when it's late evening, the colors of this flower are still visible.

Hmmmmmm MWojton, I kinda gathered that looking at your avatar photo. I had no idea Azaleas came in orange until I saw these planted in someone's front yard down the street from where I live.

Thank you Pam. I'm pretty sure that color is the predominant theme here. I didn't even know it was an azalea until I zoomed in on the blossoms. And even then I thought "Well what do you know!"

Thanks Cwilson. I've been trying to nail down a name for this color of orange. Bright orange comes closest, crimson is too red, but I suspect there is a name for this hue.

I have a large planting of these, or very close to what yours look like. They're Exbury azaleas (deciduous) called 'Gibraltar.' Altho there are some other orange varieties out there, too.

Thanks Randy. Here I am, thinking I live in the "heart" of Azalea country (northern end of the Deep South), and find that my knowledge of Azalea species is woefully lacking. But even if I don't know their proper names, my trigger (shutter?) finger can still bring 'em down.
