Setting default photo editor on Mac

Once I set my Mac Book Pro to open Lightroom 5 when I plugged in my camera or card reader. Now I need to change it to open Lightroom 6 and I'm about to go crazy trying to figure out where to find that setting on my Mac. It now wants to open the new apple "Photos" app.
Any Mac users out there that can help?

I don't have Lightroom, but when Photos opens there is a box in the upper left that you need to uncheck and Photos won't open.

If there is Preferences in Lightroom you can direct your devices there, at least in Preferences/General in iPhoto is I where checked off for iPhoto to open when a camera is connected to the mac.

I found the box to uncheck in Photos so that part of this is solved. Thanks
But I can find nothing in Lightroom preferences or system preferences to allow me to set what is to open when a camera (or SD card) is detected. It has to be there somewhere but I can't find it!

:-(

If you right click on a photo file, a box pops up. Click on get info. Go down to the open with and click on LR CC and below that, click on open all files with that extension. That should do it.

Thanks Bob and Christm.

I was able to cause Lightroom to open when double clicking a raw (NEF) file on the card after following your advice. However, even with "Show import dialogue when a memory card is detected" selected in Lightroom/general preferences, Lightroom doesn't automatically open when a card or camera is detected. Lightroom used to open when I connected the camera or a card reader. This isn't the end of the world but I would like Lightroom to open automatically as it once did.

I have the same issue too.
Hoping some one here can assist.
I also read somewhere within preferences that option needs to be checked off.
Keen to know the answer here.
