Just playing around with the new LR, and I tried a panorama. This is the Valley of Death, in Gettysburg, taken from the top of Little Round Top. The infamous "Devil's Den" is at the left.
The photos were taken last year. I originally processed them through PS, and that is the second image here. The first one is the LR version I just made.
I can't remember what else I did in PS, but the photos are different sizes, so I guess I must have done *something*. The LR version is without any further processing to whatever initial tidying up I may have done on import.
There were 8 original exposures, taken in portrait mode.
I have been trying to post this for a while, but it keeps failing. Going on the premise that maybe the original jpegs were too big, I have resized them to try again. If this *was* the reason, then a more helpful error message would have been more helpful, rather than telling me to check the url of the page, since I clicked the button from the newsletter...
I think this is my 1000th post to the Hog!
You can level and correct horizon distortion on both in Lightroom.

BTW - Love that Lightroom CC/6 included the pano stitching, save s a round trip to Photoshop, and does a great job too!
FWIY - When I upload too large a file I am pretty sure I always get an error message that the size was indeed to big, not a URL error.
I decided to get dozens of pano shots stitched and then delete the originals. I eliminated roughly 2,000 pano component files after stitching.
The LR works quite well in single row panos. I did manage to get it to go through a 3 row pano but it took quite awhile. I stitched the same in ICE and ICE accomplished the task in less than half the time.
I had several 180 +/- 50 image panos and LR was not able to complete any of those but ICE handled them easily.
The LR option is a real time saver and if you stitch the raw single images together you wind up with raw image format which makes editing much more manageable.
I think this is a good first step but it needs some work so it can handle larger panoramic projects.

Yes, I like the fact that my processed file is still a dng, and not a tiff which is returned from PS

I tried several times with the same result. First it was a message about not being able to read something, then this jumped to a 404 error, saying that I should check I had not mistyped the URL. They *were* pretty big files, but a more meaningful error message would have saved me several failed attempts.

Oops! Actually, this is not as noticeable until you see the shrunken version on here! In my defence, I was really just playing around to see how the stitching compared to PS, but I will go back and fix that.
BTW, I looked again for getting the upgrade to LR6 as advertised in their upgrade link. I can only find going to the Cloud version. Sort of misrepresentation at best IMHO.
One UHHer said he found the upgrade....but I did not succeed. If anyone finds it please post a link.

Lightroom 6 standalone upgrade?
Bottom right corner of the page at this site, scroll down, click BUY NOW, when in the cart select UPGRADE instead of full version.http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
Thanks for trying to help.
Sorry but your link gives me the same page I get when I click on the Lightroom upgrade. It only gives me a "Buy Now" for the Cloud.
I don't see an upgrade option in the cart.
You need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see stand alone version buy now button.

I tried that. I still don't get the upgrade option.
Glad you found another way to it, however, the link I sent takes you to the regular CC page, then when you scroll down to the bottom very bottom, (you must scroll down as it is off the page) on the right hand side is the box that says LIGHTROOM DESKTOP BUY NOW....
clicking on buy now takes you to the cart, which then has the $179.00 full standalone version, clicking on FULL will allow yo to select UPGRADE for $79.00, and select which previous version you have which qualifies.
Not sure why I get to these links if you can't.
Glad you got it though.
BTW - Her link sends you to exactly the same place as the one where you could not find the standalone buy now????
Really confused now....
