Two of our new trucks are at a location in Illinois to have the tank systems installed. I received some photos because the factory screwed up the paint scheme on the hoods when they were built. The photos were taken with a General Electric GEDSC X500 camera. Apparently GE has a line of bridge cameras. This one sells for about $120. I had no idea GE made cameras. Well, maybe they don't actually make them. They could just be selling someone else's product under their name. Image quality doesn't seem too bad for an inexpensive camera. Obviously the photographer hasn't figured out how to set the date/time yet!
I bought a GE bridge camera a few years ago for a very low price, as it happened to be the department store's display model and the last one they had in stock.
The images it captured were not bad, but I never could get comfortable with the camera. I did not like the menu lay-out at all and found it confusing and illogical. And I didn't particularly care for the camera's ergonomics - it felt more like a clumsy game controller than a camera. The 4-second processing time between shots was often quite annoying - not ideal for capturing action where precise timing is critical.
I still have the camera, but I haven't used it in quite some time.
GE does not make cameras. A few companies have license rights to the brand name for consumer goods because they bought businesses that GE wanted to get rid of.
GE has zero interest in consumer businesses and is dumping all the ones that they still have including appliances (transfers to Electrolux in June).
They are concentrationing on power generation (steam, wind and gas turbine), health systems and aircraft engines (where they have a huge market share).

Don't forget locomotives and marine diesels. Digital Imaging, of Gardenia, Ca, is the company producing the cameras. They carry the GE logo under a licensing agreement, so to the consumers they are GE cameras.

Is this a T800B? Looks like the steer axle wheel hub is leaking.

& nuclear! Doesn't GE make everything?
They are awesome with medical digital imaging; Cat Scan, Plain X-Ray, MRI, and portables X-Ray.

Good eye! They are set up with the FEPTO (Front Engine PTO) so the radiator and hood are different. Didn't notice the possible leak. I was too interested in the two other screw-ups KW made. The paint line on the hood and the lack of the twin roof beacons on one of them. Surprising for KW. Now I will have to spend a day going over each one in detail when they get to the dealer in Albany. No telling what else is wrong.

When you do daily pre trip inspections you tend to catch things like that.
Pretty much! They ship turbines and generators from their Schenectady plant through the port of Albany, just a little north of me. Since I started keeping track of river traffic I have been surprised to see how often ships come into the port to load from them. Years ago a Dutch heavy lift ship capsized at the dock while loading three 200 ton generators. Someone made a mistake in ballasting. Several Russian crew members, working in the hold welding the generators in place were crushed to death as the ship rolled on it's side. Sad day.

Yes they make medical imaging equipment, but compared to the other providers of said equipment, their prices are too high and they are tough to deal with, especially after the sale.
This comes from personal experience.

I don't know if GE makes cameras any longer - they were of very poor quality and I've many accounts of them just quitting after the warranty period was up of course.

A company called Digital Imaging actually makes them and sells them as GE under a licensing agreement. I was just surprised to see the GE logo on a camera. As far as quality, I don't imagine they are the best built camera out there, but for $120 the photos sent to me weren't that bad.

Yeah, they have a whole line of them. If they're as dependable as their lightbulbs and jet engines, they should be a good investment. :D
