Morning all,
My Seagate Free Agent 3TB auxiliary hard drive has disappeared from my computer. I've tried turning off, unplugging, turning back on and re-plugging. I hear it booting up but the files in it do not appear like my other two aux drives do.
Does anyone have any other suggestions and/or is there a way to retrieve the files from this drive?
Any and all help appreciated!

Is it one of several aux drives? You may have to remap it, or reassign a drive letter to it.
Try plugging it into another, or someone else's computer.
Great ideas from all of you. Thanks. I'll get busy working your ideas.

Donna,
It would help us help you if you told us what type of computer you own --- a Mac or a PC?
Also, which version of the operating system is currently loaded on the machine.

It's a Dell PC running Windows 8.1 with 12G of RAM. As a side and probably unrelated note I've been having trouble launching LR 5 lately. It often starts to load and then stalls. I often have to shut it down and re-start - sometimes several times.

May not be related, but I have had that problem in the past with external drives. Different ports, different computers. Nothing worked. They were toast.

You might try resetting your computer to an earlier date, before you had problems loading LR.

Donna, try going to Disk Manager (from Start screen, just type Disk Manager) to see if the drive is listed there (after plugging it in to the computer, of course). If it is listed, see if it has been assigned a drive letter. If not, or a letter is assigned that you don't want to use, right-click on the drive and choose 'Assign Drive Letter'.
Sometimes, there occurs a "signature collision" that can be remedied this way. Each new drive attached is assigned a signature (number) and if there are more than one drives attached, they can get assigned the same number, hence the collision.

Why would this occur months (at least 6) AFTER first hooked up to this computer? Thanks for your input.
All have been working fine for 6 months or more since I got this computer. Don't understand why this would happen all of a sudden. Of course I also don't know exactly when I went from Windows 8 to 8.1. Thanks for your input.

Looks like I'm desperate enough to do that now, RWR. LR5 has become unuseable since I wrote earlier and I have RAW images I MUST process for my job by tomorrow.
Can you tell me how to do that please?
Thanks!
