Sony Alpha 550 questions

Hello. I'm new here. Any other Sony Alpha 550 users out there? Question 1. There is a menu setting for CTRL for HDMI (on or off). And there is a connection port on the camera for HDMI. The book does not explain the purpose of this port or setting. Anybody got an explanation? Question 2. There is a USB port and menu selection for USB (Mass Storage or PTP). I gather that in Mass Storage mode I can connect to a computer and transfer images from the camera. What is PTP for? Thanks for your feedback.

You can plug the camera directly into the HDMI port on your tv. You will have to order a cable. You can get them on e-bay.

PTP is Picture Transfer Protocol used to connect your camera to a PictBridge compatible printer..
