We had two new Monarchs born yesterday within about 30 minutes of each other. Here are some photos. The last photo is of both of them (one trying to hide) after I transferred them to a milkweed plant.

Not yet. The first one flew off during the night. The second one is just hanging on a milkweed. He doesn't seem to know how to flap his wings. I have run around the yard flapping my arms but he isn't catching on.

I'm curious if the one that you transfered is the one not flying off?

In Monarch Land you are fast becoming a King among Kings. Good shots as usual.

In your photo of both butterflies, the upper one is female, and the lower one is male.

On the male Monarch, there is just a hint of the scent gland on rear underwing, which is much more evident on upper surface of that wing.

Slight discoloring (center) from pherimon gland on otherside of wing.
