Sony cyber shot Error and advice on repacement

Hi....this is a small saga of a HX300....warranty company...error message and question on two cameras to replace the Sony.
Had an HX300 warrantied by squaretrade. I sent it in due to autofocus problems and a grinding noise that would periodicially show up but the lens would go out and retract but sometime just not lock on a focus.
The lens was replaced. When it was returned to me all was good except the manual focus was not working. And then the error 62.10 was in the viewfinder....lens error..Tried every thing that goggle utube sony said would take care of the problem, nothing worked. Sent back again for warranty repair. They were going to put another new lens in. A week later they will not repair but will send me a check.
Now that's fine and apparently error 62.10 is common.
So waiting on a check...question P600 or FZ70....those are the two that I can afford. P600 ....reach...FZ70 build and better on the low end. What would you guys choose out of the two...They are both refurshibed. I have a SX50 and G15 please advise on those 2 if you were in my situatation.....Photo inerests....sports nature and family photography...I need a piece of equiptment that will be different than the two cameras I have already....Thank you for any imput.

If anyone is using a P600 what are the negatives that bother you.I read the lens is slow but the reach is great. If it is a very slow lens is noise a major issue. I know Nikon knows how to make a lens. Also if there is a FZ70 owner please give me your opinions of what bothers you and what makes the camera fun to use and how is the build. Would either of work for sports shots. Thanks

Hello seagull5! Asking respectfully, why doesn't the SX50 and G15 meet your needs? Since your previous cameras have been good quality Canons, why introduce a different P600 menu/operating system to your camera bag? Not at all clear what a third camera will add.

Why not stick with Sony? Seems as though they did the right thing with the warranty.

You also know what quality you were getting with your images....

hopefully a reach on the long end with the p600...the sx60 is too much money...and the fz70 wider at the short end. It is just an opportunity to have a little better quiver and one my son can use when we hike the trails together...both these being refurbished would be less than or close to the Sony they are replaceing...thanks

Sony did not warranty the camera. It was a squaretrade warranty which completely did the right thing. Thanks

Have you checked into similarly priced Sony cameras?

You really do get more bang for the buck. ;)

I did. I was happy with the hx300 except for the long reach iq that I needed for a couple of osprey nests and shots across the manatee river mouth for the kite surfers/wind surfers...It was also a seemingly well built piece of equipment. Used it everyday for 14 months. Seems like when it broke down it really broke down.
We will see how satisfied the P600 will make me...If it feels cheap then I will find something else. There is no hurry except the joy of using a new piece of equipment and taking it to its limits....just damn fun

I've carried an HX400v as my daily shooter for almost a year. It's been very reliable & easy on batteries.
