Excellent set 'Dennis from Monach digs'. We are staying with a friend in France for a couple of days (hence internet use). It is so beautiful here with forests all around the house. Birding today, macro tomorrow in the outbuildings, if I am brave enough.

Thanks, Brenda. Go for the outbuilding search for photo subjects. I don't think France has anything that can hurt you. Bad, that is. Does your friend have any birds or boar? Can I come over to hunt?
Good luck on your travels

Lots of little birds but hard to see as the trees are so tall and dense here. Yes, there are wild boar and deer which are shot during a specified hunting season. However, there is a large protected area from hunting around this village. Apparently, french hunters are a bit random in their methods and enjoy a lunch with wine before venturing out to shoot each other (I am told they accidentally kill about 100 of their mates each year while hunting.)

I might pass on the hunting there. Normally in America the smart sportsmen and women don't drink anything alcoholic until the shooting is over. I have a friend who lives just outside of London and has a place where he shoots deer, rabbits and fowl. I may try to hunt with him some time. Thanks for asking.
