I have never seen so much red on a red-bellied! Is this an indication of his lustfulness? In the research I've done, I can't find any mention of "breeding plumage" or anything explaining all this red! These images are cropped only, no color adjustment or anything else.

Sunburn sounds reasonable to me, Sherry. Looks like he's been lying on his back to soak up the rays. I've never seen so much red on a Red-bellied either, but these are certainly terrific shots.
