I got a call this morning from Spartan Photo Center that my two D4 cameras had come in......can't wait to give them a try! The D800 is also on it's way....D800e will be mid April. This was an NPS order but the Adoramas and B & H orders should be coming in now. So hang on, they are here!

Yahooo!

It is a wonderful camera store......our photoguild meets there monthly. Spartan Photo Center also has a great internet business but I know them as my friends. We do a lot of shoots with the employees.

Let us know how you like them. It should be interesting comparing two of the same model.

Do you know if the D800E will come with Capture NX2?

Thanks, nikonshooter. I wil alsol probably have to upgrade my mac OSX to either leopard or lion and from powerPC to intel as the new version of Capture NX2 no longer supports powerPC machines and OSX tiger which I still have.

You're correct about the need to upgrade your OS.

The new NX2 has been designed for both video and stills. The D800e users (when they come) will be pleased with the moire control sliders. Hope they work!

One of the advantages of the D800e and a force in our decision to add one was the added ability of this camera to take Infrared shots (with an nearly total opaque infrared filter). These infrared images will be close to the images taken by those cameras that have been unfitted to shoot infrared. The added light will give another stop or more of light. Especially advantageous if you do any astronomical photography.

I opt for the D800e because i am not really concerned with Moire with my style of shooting. I am still a little bit concerned with digital noise that maybe produced by the the large megapixels(36.2) of the D800E sensors at high isos.

Now waiting for the price drop after the initial rush is over.

I'd give it about two weeks, and the price will drop through the floor. I'll be able to get D4's for all the members of the family. That's why I always wait a bit before buying.

I doubt very seriously noise will be an issue. The removal of the anti-aliasing filter will allow another stop plus light to the sensor. Color shifts and moire will be the trade off.

Very smart of Nikon to offer that option right out of the box.
