Whirlpool & Double Galaxies.
Whirlpool Galaxy and the Double Galaxy. The Whirlpool actualy has a very faint 2nd Galaxy at the center bottom.
Meade 8"SCT w/Nikon D800E Camera.
5 Minutes exposures, the wind, 15 MPH, caused a little trailing in both exposures. f/10, ISO 12800
More to come soon when I get them processed in Lightroom and Topaz Detail3.

The next set is the same Telescope & Camera.
1. Is the Orion Nebula. 30 sec, f/10, ISO 12800. Unfortunately I had to crop it so UHH would post it. I was to big of a file.
2. Is the M13 Star Cluster. 30 sec, f/10, ISO 12800.

Thank you very much Jim, great advice from you too and modifying the Scope Dovetail made a big difference too.

Very nicely done Craig, I am partial to your M13, which in my option is one of the better globular clusters. I don't know something about a large group of stars that are older than our galaxy and are almost the age of our universe. To me it is always stunning to view thousands or even millions of stars in a tight knit grouping for eons.
Great captures,
Matthew

Thank you very much Matthew, you're correct it is a Globular Cluster.
And it's exciting what the right equipment can do.
I've still to fire up the guide camera. That could get real exciting for me.

As for your guider I really hope you find it much easier than I did. By the end I was so frustrated I would waste half the night tring to work the bugs out to only give up and return to the way of imaging I had been doing previously. If I could bring myself to sell any of my belongings I would have probably given up with my original setup and broken down and purchased a much more expensive setup.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get some decent results from mine.

Your hooked good job got to love the whirlpool. Darren
Thank you very much Darren. And yes I have the fever.
Just tonight the fog monster rolled in for a few days.
Craig
Really nice Craig. I really like your Whirlpool galaxy and Orion Nebula images. I look forward to hearing how the guiding goes. I haven't ventured down that path yet but I hope to start this summer.

Wow! Really some great photographs there, Craig!
I'll have to paddle fast to try and catch up. :-D
Sorry the wind was a pain. I'm curious, do you think a tent might help cut down the wind "noise" in your pictures?
Thank You for sharing your settings and exposure times. Gives me some idea of where to begin, when I get there....
Looks like I ordered my AVX from a lackadaisical vendor. It might ship today, or tomorrow. I might get it by the end of the week...
So I'll be looking at every-bodies pretty pictures, and a bunch of nice gear, ...with no mount. :hunf:
Thanks for sharing! (And listening...)

Thank you very much John that is my fist attempt at anything needing that much exposure time and the Whirlpool is beautiful.

Thank you very much for the compliments. Don't worry the mount will make you look good from the start.
Sonny, to bad it's taking so long to get you equipment. I ordered on a Fri and got it Wed. You'll get it soon.
I put the scope behind my SUV to block the wind as much as possible, it got most of it.

Make
me look good?
Naw, I just get miffed when somebody fumbles the ball with a who gives a Shiite attitude.
All the rest was on the way, with 2 day shipping. These goldfarbs still haven't posted it as processed OR shipped.
And they are a big time store.
I used Amazon's web site to send them a "Where's My Stuff?" email. I have a couple of replies to work with.
Won't be ordering anything with them again.
So for now, I'll go get "my spot" at the Grandson's school and take a nap. That'll show them!
